I was born and still live in Leicester, England.
At school I obtained a G.C.S.E in Art and have since gained many other qualifications in Art based studies. After leaving full time education I did an apprenticeship in Interior Designer, I worked in that profession for ten years, in the evenings I would paint to relieve stress. As fashions changed to a more contemporary colour schemes I would often struggle to find the right piece of artwork to compliment my client’s interiors, so I began painting pieces for them. After getting recommendations I was soon painting day and night, so four years ago I decided to concentrate on becoming a full-time artist.
Currently commissioning artwork for private collectors and businesses, including commissions for Oxford University Computing Services, Oxford Begbroke Science Park and Barclay Bank. I also have work displayed in one of Leicester's top interior design showroom.
I start a new painting by deciding on a subject and a colour scheme. My paintings are usually bold and striking, focusing on surface texture and colour. I find painting to be stimulating with its different challenges. It also gives me a sense of accomplishment when a painting is finished.
My paintings speak in form, not in realism. Most of my inspiration comes from my emotions and every day experiences. Sometimes I take multiple images that I have seen and combine them into one image, which allows me to more accurately deliver my emotional response. I want my viewers to make up their own minds about what the paintings mean. Each person will have a different opinion and even this will change from day to day depending on his or her mood. I have been told that people can feel the passion in my work.
All my paintings are hand painted, not prints or digital images, therefore you can clearly see each of my individual brush strokes and palette knife applied textures.
All my paintings have that WOW factor and will quickly become a focal point in your home or office.
