WIGAN (WEST) 1907 SHEET 93.07 BRAND NEW AND IN SUPERB CONDITION This map is taken from the 1/2500 plans and reproduced by Alan Godfrey at about 15 inches to the mile, it is highly detailed and covers an area of about one and a half square miles This highly detailed map covers the western part of Wigan, including some central features, such as the Rectory (Wigan Hall), Mesnes Park and 'Wigan Pier'. Coverage stretches from Lyon Street and Trencherfield Mill westward to Marsh Green, and from Throstle Nest Avenue southward to Swan Meadow Road. The many features include tramways with two depots, Workhouse, Victoria Mills, Leeds & Liverpool Canal, Newtown, Swan Meadow Mills, Miry Lane Depot, Winstanley Colliery Railway, Bull Hey, stretches of railway west from Wallgate station, including old and new loco depots, Newtown Colliery, Meadows Colliery, Norley Colliery Pits 4 and 5, Laithwaite House, Hall Worsley, Pagefield works; the map shows the long overhead tramway from Newtown Colliery to Meadows Colliery, which we suggest was the real 'Wigan Pier' and it also includes the wharf area now normally regarded as the pier. A Pemberton directory is included on the reverse. The map links up with sheets 93.03 Wigan NW to the north, 93.08 Wigan to the east, 93.11 Pemberton to the south which I am also selling on Ebay right now....NO MORE P+P FOR ANY OTHER ITEMS BOUGHT !
