A fully renovated black bakelite British GPO 332 art deco styled telephone with dialling code drawer

The 300 series telephone was provided by the GPO between the late 1930's and mid 1960's. It was the first bakelite telephone to incorporate an internal bell.  This is an original GPO version, the handset being embossed with, and the base plate showing the appropriate GPO markings.

This telephone comes complete with an original GPO chrome No. 12 all metal dial, braided cloth covered handset cord and of course the loud traditional bell ring, and the desirable dialling code drawer.

Like all of my bakelite telephones this example has undergone a full strip down renovation.  All electrical parts have been tested cleaned and reset, in addition, the internal wiring has been adapted to ensure compatibility and conversion to the modern UK system. It is ready to plug in and it will work correctly with other telephone equipment on networks supporting pulse dialling.

This telephone is in excellent overall condition with a high gloss shine to the bakelite parts, the one very minor defect present is shown below.

 A outstanding example of the 300 series telephone and a stylish, attractive and useable piece of telecommunications history!

There is a minor hairline defect present on the back panel.  This is completely contained and can only be seen on very close inspection.

The handset shows an original manufacture date of 1939, strangely the part reference number 234 has been erased I am not sure why the GPO would have done this?  The base plate markings show that this telephone was refurbished in the GPO factory in 1962.

The dial label and code card shown are not original, if requested, I can print a similar dial label with your own telephone "Exchange" and "Number" at no additional charge.
