OKRA STAR OF DAVID IS AN OKRA VARIETY FROM ISRAEL. IT IS A SHORT TYPE WHICH IS ABOUT TWICE IS FAT AS OTHER OKRA VARIETIES. THE OKRAS ARE BEST IF PICKED AT CA 3.0 IN LENGTH. AS LONG AS YOU KEEP HARVESTING, OKRA STAR OF DAVID WILL GIVE EXCELLENT CROPS. THE THE OKRAS WILL MATURE IN CA 70 DAYS

 

SOWING INSTRUCTIONS:

SOW THE OKRA SEEDS INDOORS CA 4-6 WEEKS BEFORE THE LAST EXPECTED FROST. SOW TWO SEEDS PER POT IN MOIST SEED COMPOST CA 0.5 INCHES DEEP.  ONCE SEEDLINGS EMERGE DISCARD THE WEAKEST SEEDLING. ONCE DANGER OF FROST HAS PASSED, HARDEN TEH OKRA SEEDS OFF AND PLANT OUTSIDE.

ALTERNATIVELY YOU CAN SOW THE OKRA SEEDS DIRECTLY OUTSIDE AFTER DANGER OF FROST HAS PASSED. SOW THE SEEDS IN ROWS CA 0.5 INCHES DEEP AND THIN OUT TO CA 20 INCHES.

THE OKRA PLANTS WILL NEED A SUNNY GROWING POSITION. THEY WILL MATURE IN ABOUT 60 DAYS. HARVEST THE PODS BEFORE THEY REACH FULL MATURITY  WHEN THEY ARE YOUNG AND  TENDER. REGULAR HARVESTING ALSO ENCOURGES  MORE GROWTH
