  • Information:  "Rugby League Final, 1955.    The Rugby League Challenge Cup competition started in 1897 and in the 1950's both Barrow and Workington Town were enjoying a run of success, appearing several times in the finals and meeting each other on the 20th April 1955, the occasion pictured here.  Barrow were victorious in this final, beating Workington Town 21-12.  The photograph shows Jimmy Lewthwaite scoring a try for Barrow and Faulder of Workington Town attempting to stop him.  But earlier in 1951, Barrow lost to Wigan 10-0 and in the 1957 final were beaten 7-9 by Leeds.  Workington took the title in 1952 against Featherstone 18-20."

The Nostalgia Postcard Collector’s Club cards were published between 1990-92 and about 1,200 different cards, covering the period 1890-1955, were published. They were printed as postcard style cards with a photograph on the front and an informative note printed across the reverse about the subject of the picture. The pictures published were reproductions of postcards, magazine and newspaper photographs and advertising posters.

I currently have over 1,100 different cards listed on eBay, either as an auction item or as a Buy It Now item in my eBay Shop called Staplehurst Collectables.
