Norwegian Solid Silver Gilt & Royal Blue Guilloche Enamel Brooch by J Tostrup of Oslo circa 1960's

This Brooch measures approximately 2 inches or 51 mm in length from the top to the base by 1 7/8 inches or 41 mm wide and it is 5/8 of an inch or 16 mm deep from front to back. It is made from solid silver that has been gilded or gold plated in a delightful scrolling shape that crosses over its self at the top, the back of the brooch has been fitted with a hinged pin and clip and the front has been wonderfully decorated with royal blue guilloche enamel. The back of the brooch has been impressed Norway, Sterling either side of the Oslo makers mark of J Tostrup and I estimate that this brooch dates from circa 1960's.

The condition is used with No Dents, No Splits and No Cracks to the body of the brooch that I can find. the brooch is straight, the decoration is crisp, the Norwegian silver and makers marks are still legible although as this brooch is used the hinged pin is working perfectly but the clip is missing a catch and the enamel has a chip at the top that looks like someone has attempted to repair, the brooch has some surface wear along with the patina of age that are to be expected and a gentle clean would not go amiss. Personally I think that this Norwegian enamel brooch looks fantastic considering that it's around 40 or so years old.

She is his grandaughter and she has also designed jewellery for Cathrine Holme.
