This is a brand new 2009 Mackinaw 156 Deluxe Canadian Canoe made by KL Industries, one of the leading manufacturers of outdoor recreational products in North America PLUS a pair of lightweight alloy paddles  

We use Canadian canoes ourselves on a regular basis, and have done so for several years so can offer firsthand practical advice.

We have owned and used Pelican Explorers and Coleman boats in the past, and have sold Explorers successfully for the last two summers, BUT have now moved up to a Mackinaw 156 which in our opinion is a FAR SUPERIOR CRAFT. It has incredible stability, manoeuvrability and strength with the most comfortable seating your backside will ever sit on! The Mackinaw 156 also leads the field with its practical coolbox, drink holders and *unique, watertight 'Drystore' facility for your wallet/phone, etc (*See our link on Youtube) It's a superb quality canoe made of incredibly durable 'Fortiflex' high density polyethylene (which has been UV stabilized to prevent fading), but is still light enough (44 kilos) that it can easily be transported on the roof rack of most cars; my wife and I can load one up between us with no problem!

Being 472cm long and 102 cm wide, it can carry a massive payload of 363kg (57 stone!!!), making it the ideal family tourer or expedition canoe. It is designed to carry 3 adults in comfort complete with picnic, but we've also carried two adults plus masses of camping equipment with no problem at all. It even has a built in cool box for the beer!
