As well as being a lovely piece of jewellery, this pendant is a very attractive crystal.  The Amethyst is a soft, misty purple, and the Lapis Lazuli is a rich, bright blue.  The double termination gives it a balancing energy, which is often helpful when the physical, mental, emotional or spiritual energy is out of balance, which can eventually lead to illness and discomfort.

Amethyst is the most valuable form of Quartz Crystal. It has been used since ancient times, both as jewellery and for talismans and amulets, and has been highly prized throughout recorded history. In many cultures, it has a tradition of being used to ward off danger, both physical and spiritual, to protect from harm, and to aid in the cure of a range of afflictions. Healers use Amethyst for its purifying, strengthening, calming and balancing properties.

Amethyst can also be used as an aid to meditation, as it is said to clarify inner images and our dreamlife, making it an ideal material for a tool to access intuition and "inner knowing". It is reputed to encourage spiritual wakefulness and give an insight into spiritual reality. It is often kept under the pillow to ward off nightmares and promote peaceful and even psychic dreams. It can give help in times of sadness and grief and in coming to terms with loss.

This crystal is known as a "change stone", as it can have the effect of opening gateways to transmutational spiritual energies and experiences.  It is also a protective stone on the spiritual plane, having the ability to repel negative energies.  When Amethyst is given as a gift between lovers, it has the ability to harmonise the vibrations between them, thus attracting good fortune and a happy life.

Lapis Lazuli has been known and highly valued as a precious stone for thousands of years.  Extensively used in ancient Egypt, and all over the middle east, it is reputed to provide mental calming allied to strength of will.  It connects the emotional nature (Heart Chakra) and the analytical nature and can increase psychic ability.  It is sacred to the Egyptian Great Goddess Isis, and in ancient China, it was honoured as one of the Seven Precious Things.

This stone is a wonderful aid to meditation.  It opens the Third Eye Chakra, and allows the integration of indigo energy through the body.  Lapis facilitates higher guidance, intuition, connection between the physical and celestial planes, and connection to the Higher Self.  It can organise and quieten the mind, and, by opening the Throat Chakra, aids with self-expression, creativity, writing and the interpretation of dreams.  Traditionally a stone of protection, Lapis was one of the stones worn by King Solomon in his breastplate as an amulet of protection.

Lapis Lazuli is ruled by Jupiter, and is said to bring the quality of vitality to the wearer.Its energy is of a very high quality, and has a tendency to raise one's mental awareness to match this high level.  It is also believed to be useful for removing past-life experience, both from the current life, and from previous ones, which are still being carried needlessly.
