30GM Colostrum and SPECIFIC EGG PROTEIN with added PRO-BIOTICS and ENERGY A major breakthrough in neo natal foal care All foals are born with a small amount of immunity that they acquire from their mother whilst in the womb. However, important antibodies which provide essential protection against common yet potentially lethal diseases have to be acquired as soon after birth as possible, as these antibodies are not able to pass across the placenta to the foal in the womb. The foal acquires these antibodies via the collostrums which is the "first milk" provided by the mare. The foal should ingest this essential colostrum within the first 4-6 hours of life. Immunoglobins which provide the foal with immunity are only able to pass through the gut into the bloodstream within the frst 12 - 24 hours of life, as after this the specialised areas where the transfer takes place in the foals gut begin to "close up" to protect the new born from pathonegic bacteria.
