Neil Cawthorne Signed Ltd Ed Arkle Horse Print Picture

Description: An excellent Equestrian scene, print on artist's paper, signed "Neil Cawthorne", and dated '80 and framed - approx 20 X 25 inches (50.8 X 63.5cm). This is an excellent English School print dating from the late 20th Century period. The Equestrian scene depicts a magnificent study of the one and only, the great Arkle, possibly the greatest steeplechaser of all time. On board is Irish jockey Pat Taaffe in the famous yellow and black colours, the pair just warming up at Cheltenham racecourse. The pring is titled "Arkle by Jneil Cawthorn - Edition Limited to 850 copies signed by the artist and countersigned by Pat Taaffe. This print is No. 790/850. The work is signed "Neil Cawthorne" lower left.

Artist Biography: Neil Cawthorne (20thC) has ridden and drawn horses for most of his life. A keen horseman he hunted with the Quorn and Fernie. Inspired by the hunting field and racecourse Neil had several exhibitions and painted many a famous racehorse. In 1971 he was commissioned by the Sporting Life to paint Mill Reef and Brigadier Gerard. Exhibitions include American Academy of Equine Art and the Society of Equestiran Artists having one many awards over the years.

Condition: The print is in excellent condition, set behind non-reflective glass. The frame has one or two minor marks.
