”Drinka Pinta Milka Day” urges Harold MacMillan, Daily Mirror – National Milk Publicity Council four-page newspaper, June 1961. This is an interesting and by now, very rare four-page National Milk Publicity Council Newsletter for June 1961. Although the heading reads Daily Mirror, I don’t think it actually has anything to do with the Daily Mirror daily newspaper, as it was published by the NMPC and seems to have been sent to retailers and a fair amount of space is taken up with advertising milk showcards, booklets and other sales aids. The cover shows the Prime Minister – Harold MacMillan, and there is a paragraph quote from his speech at the opening of the sixth June Dairy Festival. There is a report from the Festival (and another photo of MacMillan) on the back page. The middle pages are taken up with all sorts of small articles about the milk / dair industry, including a panel titled Advertising Schedule for June, which shows the dates of press and television advertising nationally and regionally. Also, a new NMPC film titled Don’t Bother To Knock has been made to show in Cinemas and the poster for the film is shown on page three. In all, it makes an interesting read even if you only have a passing interest but if you happen to be really ‘into’ the milk industry and NMPC ephemera then this will be for you! It is in lovely clean and complete condition with no rips or scribbles anywhere. It has been stored neatly folded but the creases are not particularly obvious and the paper is not deteriorating.
