About us: Scotby Cycles is a large owner run independent retail bike shop based in Carlisle, Cumbria. There are two side to the business. The first involves all the things you would expect from a quality bike shop: Big stocks of top brands (Specialized, Cannondale, Trek, Hope, Shimano, 661, Endura and Fox clothing, and a lot more too, etc), fast-repairs workshop, part-exchange welcome, and service that makes you happy to recommend us to your friends and family. The second involves our online internet and eBay trading. Much of the stock you’ll find on our eBay shop is bike related, but not all! Watch our eBay site regularly and you will find some really great bargains in a variety of different goods. Although the nature of online trading is different, service and integrity to our customers is always paramount.

VIEWING GOODS
You are welcome to view items we have listed on ebay if you call to our retail shop during opening hours: Scotby Cycles, Church Street, Caldewgate, Carlisle, CA2 5TL. Mon-Sat: 9.00am—5.30pm.
Although we are more than happy for any potential buyer to view ebay items, we will not accept offers, or sell them outside eBay.
PAYMENT
Our preferred method of payment is PayPal.
If you cannot use PayPal and want to make payment using debit card or credit card please phone us on Tel:01228 546931 (during normal working hours, Mon-Sat: 9am—5.30pm).
We only accept payment by PayPal for goods being delivered outside the UK.
We do not accept payment by cheque (unless you are prepared to wait up to 21 days)
COLLECTION
1) If you are the winning bidder you can save yourself the carriage cost by collecting goods from our shop.
DELIVERY USING CARRIER
Goods are collected from us and delivered to you during normal working hours (Mon-Fri, 9am—5.30pm).
Our carriage and packing charge for bikes is usually £12 for UK mainland (this is only part of the actual cost to us).
Deliveries will usually not be made on Saturday because the additional carriage cost is considerable (a bike delivery that would normally cost £12 may cost £60, or more). If delivery on Saturday is essential please ask us for a quote first.
We are happy to deliver bikes to Northern & Southern Ireland, Isle of Man, Jersey, Channel Islands, Scottish Highlands, etc. However, there is an additional charge for these deliveries. Please contact us first.
IMPORTANT: Bikes and other goods that are sent by carrier will need to be signed for when they arrive. Please make sure there is someone at the address to sign for the delivery. If you are not present when an attempted delivery is made please contact the carrier company immediately to avoid additional delivery charges.
SIGNING FOR DELIVERIES: If you suspect the goods you are signing for may be damaged make a brief written note beside where you are signing (example: “Box damaged” or “Box open, goods may be missing”). It is very difficult to claim off a carrier company when a customer has signed that the goods have been received in good condition. Please inform us immediately regarding any problems (within 24 hours).
BIKE ASSEMBLY
New bikes: We fully assemble new bikes, however for delivery we need to remove front wheel and handlebars, etc. (although hardly anything needs doing it means a competent person will need to refit these parts).
Bikes which are serviced will still require a small amount of work before use (This is because we need to remove front wheel, handlebars, pedals, etc, to enable packaging). This must be carried out by a competent person.
Bikes that are not described as having been serviced by us will require mechanical work before use. It is essential that this work is carried out before the bike can safely be used.
PROBLEMS
We do our utmost to avoid problems and rarely get any. However, if a problem does arise we want to keep communication open and find a solution fast! Here’s what we would ask you to do:-
Contact us immediately and give us details of your purchase and the problem you are experiencing.
We need your ebay name, and email address.
We need a telephone number so we can contact you, if necessary, during working hours (mobile is best).
