...What I did find is that if an egg will not come out first time you have
to keep trying by combing the hair from different angles. Having a see
through container with water in while doing the combing to rinse the comb in
once I have finished the process I lift the container up and I can see
exactly what has been brought out of the hair and its amazing.

parents are when dealing with an infestation of head lice, there is nothing
more irritating than your child being re-infested by playmates within days of
being louse free. Used on a daily basis, our Repellent Spray helps to keep
hair free from lice during outbreaks. A light non-greasy spray, it is pleasant
smelling and comes in a generous 250ml family size bottle. |
Instructions: Please
read carefully before use.
- Shake bottle well.
- You must apply solution to dry hair.
- Cover shoulders with old towel. Comb hair thoroughly. Ensure hair is as
tangle free as possible.
- Avoiding contact with eyes, saturate scalp and roots with solution. Comb
through the hair, using wider side of fine tooth comb first, then repeating
with the finer side. Remove any lice which have been caught in the comb (an
old toothbrush or toothpick works well).
- Leave on for at least three hours, combing frequently with the nit comb
for maximum benefit. If preferred, the solution can be left on overnight.
- Before washing out, comb again with the nit comb from the roots right
down to the ends (as described above).
- Wash out with a normal shampoo, rinse and shampoo again. Dry as normal.

What are lice?
Lice are small, wingless, beige-white insects about the size of a sesame
seed when fully grown.
How long do head lice live?
Lice live for about 25 -35 days on a human, but they rarely live more
than 48 hours off the human body.
Can head lice hop (skip) or jump?
No, head lice cannot hop, skip, jump or fly.
Do head lice spread diseases?
No, head lice are not known to transmit any disease agents. However,
secondary infections may result if the skin is broken by repeated
scratching, but this is extremely uncommon.
What are "nits"?
Nits are the louse eggs. They are small (about the size of a pin head),
white to cream in colour and they look like a tiny teardrop
Where are nits found?
Head lice glue their eggs to the base of the hair shaft, frequently
behind the ears or on the nape of the neck. Nits found further than about 1
cm down the hair shaft will be empty shells and only need to be removed for
cosmetic reasons
How many eggs does a female head louse lay?
A female head louse produces about four to six eggs per day
How does someone get head lice?
Lice are transmitted by close head to head contact with an infested
person. This is why they are so common in primary school children.
Can head lice survive on pets?
No, head lice can only live on humans, and they can't be transmitted to
or from pets. i.e., they must feed on humans in order to survive.
How many head lice are usually found on an infested person?
Typically, 10-15 head lice are found, depending on how quickly the
infestation is discovered and dealt with.
Who is most likely to get head lice?
Head lice have been found on people of all socio-economic levels.
Children, particularly those of primary school age, are most likely to get
head lice, due to their close contact with their classmates.
How can you tell if someone has head lice?
Lice can cause itching of the scalp, but this is not always the case. On
dark hair the eggs can sometimes be seen easily with the naked eye. The best
way to tell if someone has head lice is to check regularly (once a week) in
good natural light. If you're not sure what to look for, ask for help from
someone who can positively identify the eggs or the lice. It is important
that you carefully and thoroughly inspect the person's head, particularly
the back of their neck and around their ears. Remember: dandruff, flaky
scalp and sand in the hair can be confused with nits. The nits are always
attached to the hair shaft and are difficult to dislodge.
What should be done if you suspect someone is infested?
Consult a pharmacist, school nurse (if available), health visitor or
informed hairdresser for advice on course of treatment.
Do remember...
An infestation of head lice may be unpleasant but it is not life
threatening and should be accepted as a common childhood ailment.
