Circa 1966-7 modern classic

This is a perfect example of why I prefer the Nikkormat to the F or F2 of similar vintage. Built like a tank and still much smaller and lighter than the more illustrious counterparts.

I have owned several from new (generally better condition than this but without the street credit) and have personal experience of this one.

This is the "Bad & the Ugly", Vietnam vet. I have the "good" on another current listing.

I have tested all the functions and everything is working as it should except the meter which was taken out by a land mine.

Shutter speeds from 1-1/1000th second and bulb. These are accurate.

It's not a pretty sight but the inside is clean as a whistle, the shutter is snappy and it's a wonderful trophy.

The following is either the truth or a figment of my imagination. I can't remember which!

After Nam it made it's way ( in the company of psycho photo journalist, adrenalin junkie, who could not face life on the quiet side) to a major conflict in Southern Africa where it fell into my hands after psycho journalist was taken out in a fire fight. It was 1976 by then and I replaced the seals, mirror damper (well, lets say I CLA'd it) and tried to repair the meter.

A friend of mine Dr. Mario Rui Dos Santos was similtaneously on combat duty in another Southern African conflict and during a weekend pass he begged me to sell him the camera as his Leica M-1 Military Green had expired some months before after two weeks in service. I could not bear to sell it so it went back into service on loan, seconded to Captain Dos Santos. Without my permission Captain Dos Santos painted the camera with melted tyre rubber to reduce reflection. I was reunited with the camera in 1980 and, along with me, it received an honourable discharge.

This is some camera!

The rules for grading sellers on ebay are in the process of changing. I welcome the changes as these force sellers to be committed to higher levels of service. The Detailed Seller Ratings have become all important and these will be updated continuously to ensure that standards are maintained. Because of this, if you score these ratings, please take a moment to consider how you score each category as this will reflect seller standards and grading. Sellers with high ratings could receive better search engine ratings as well as discounts off seller fees. Sellers at the lowest acceptable levels could be restricted from selling on Ebay.

My mission statement rests on a desire to trade honestly with those who simply love quality, classic cameras that work and can be enjoyably used. In the new digital age I would like to help engender a continued interest in the great classic cameras of our times.

I have found that the more I know about cameras the more I have to learn and this is where I think some of the fascination lies.
