NEW HANDCARVED Peruvian gourd box--Geckoes

Over 4,000 years have gone into the production of this box!  The petite hiding place is decorated with sneaky geckoes scurrying around the exterior.  And each one is totally unique, as they are handcarved by individual artists in Peru.  Of course, the plants must be tended first, then the gourds harvested.  Next, the fruit is cleaned and prepared for use.  Intricate designs and textures are chiseled into the sides according to traditions reaching back millenia.  Finally, the wonderful earthtones are achieved through careful application of fire alone.  The results are amazing artifacts of museum quality!  These boxes are perfect for holding your jewelry or other small items.  They add culture year round.  Also a very special gift that won't be replicated!  For other delightfully different gourd boxes, please see our other listings!

As these pieces are created by hand of natural materials, slight variations in shape, color, and texture occur. These are real gourds, and small blemishes are sometimes apparent.  We feel this only adds to the authenticity of the handicraft!  Measurements are approximate.  Pictures are representative of the basic theme.  Price is for one box; an extra lid is shown to illustrate the interior, which may vary in color.  The inside of the boxes is finished with a protective coating, but they are not food safe.
