In December 1942 Stephen Johnson's Moquito fighter-bomber was hit by anti-aircraft fire off the dutch coast and crash-landed in the sea. He survived, and spent the rest of the war inGerman prison camps. To combat the hunger, and boredom, he started to write about fishing, which had been his passion since boyhood. With a scrounged pencil he set down in a notebook memories of days and nights on Skye, at Camasunary, his family's estate, fishing the river and the lochs for sea trout. He recalled the enchantment of fishing for trout in Bavaria before the war and described his adventures in persuit of salmon in Scotland. Always his mind returned to Skye, the country of his heart, and the fishing of his dreams, where the big house by the shore echoed with the laughter of his friends, and the walls were decorated with cut-outs of the big sea- trout they had caught! By the time of his release, in 1945,the notebook was full and in 1947 the first edition was published! The book has remained an underground classic, much loved but known to few! Now, with this new edition, it is time for it to reach the larger audience it deserves. Published by Excellent Press @ £25.00........
