What is 802.11n DRAFT N ?

802.11n is a new generation of wireless LAN protocol, using the current draft 2.0 stage, with the official protocol expected to be released in 2008.  Wi-Fi has already begun accepting 802.11n products for compatibility authentication tests.  Intel has followed suit with compatibility tests with its 11n Centrino certification and has already confirmed support of the 11n protocol.  The 802.11n protocol compared with traditional WiFi standards 802.11a, 802.11b and 80.11g provides higher connection speeds, broader wireless coverage, and stronger signal connections.  While 11n is still compatible with traditional 802.11a,b and g protocols, it is the standard by which future wireless local area networks will be developed.

Why would you need 11n (Draft N) equipment ?

Internet access bandwidth is the potential speed at which computers can communicate with the Internet, if there are multiple computers on the LAN and you want to share files, play games, or work online between network computers then the more speed the better. This being said average 11g 54M wireless router's actual TCP speeds are only around 20 Mbps and if there are many users on the LAN then the bandwidth split between them is in reality quiye low.
