The isometric face - more rectangular than oval and delivering a bigger hitting area - is responsible for ball speed. It's also multi-thickness (the centre of the clubface being 3.6mm, the heel and toe areas 1.9mm) and because thinner clubfaces are more powerful, this gives plenty of ball speed and also effectively stretches the sweetspot to cover more of the face
having a crown that's 20% thinner removes three grams of weight from the top of the club, which helps lower the centre of gravity and makes the most of launch angle and spin rate. The key elements of the club fit together perfectly and the performance is excellent. It's solid off the face and fires balls into the sky with a satisfying crack.
It's not just in the face that the shape of the club is different. Where the face has been extended to be more pronounced, the head shape is less pentagonal than the previous model, sweeping to a less noticeable point at the rear of the clubhead and offering a far more traditional view at address
