HUGE TURQUOISE STONE & STERLING SILVER PENDANT, BY ALEX SANCHEZ - NAVAJO/ZUNI
Here's another magnificent pendant by the well known and incredibly talented Navajo/Zuni artist Alex Sanchez.
During the past few years Alex has crafted most of his jewelry in his unique petroglyph style. However, since we also appreciate his old style jewelry we asked him to make us a few "one-of-a-kind" pieces and this is the first that he has completed.
For this particular pendant we gave Alex the huge turquoise stone and left the rest up to him. The amazing results can be seen in the pictures displayed below. The coin that we used in one of the pictures is a quarter.
Alex used the stone as the centerpiece of the pendant. He set it in a plain silver bezel, surrounded it with a silver twisted rope, and mounted it on his handmade and hand carved silver base. He further adorned the pendant with a large silver feather and some silver raindrop beads.
The pendant measures 4+1/8" long (including it's bale) and is 2+1/8" wide. It weighs 80 grams, is stamped sterling and has Alex's hallmark.
This wonderful example of genuine, handmade, Native American jewelry will make a great gift for yourself, or for that special someone in your life.
