NATIVE AMERICAN~ HOPI~ STERLING SILVER BRACELET, SIGNED

Up for sale is a stunning, sterling silver overlay bracelet that we purchased at a jewelry & crafts shop on the Hopi Reservation.

The bracelet was crafted by the well respected Hopi artist Riley Polyquatewa, from Shungopavi village, who has been making high quality silver jewelry since the early 1970's.

Riley made this bracelet as a tribute to the well known Native American deity Kokopelli who has been worshipped by several Native American tribes since around 750 AD. In Hopi lore Kokopelli carries unborn children on his back and distributes them to women. He also presides over the reproduction of game animals, and his flute playing is thought to chase away the winter and bring about spring to aid in agriculture.

This bracelet features four Kokopelli figures that cover just about it's entire surface. It measures 5+5/8" on the inside plus it has a gap of 1+1/8". In spite of it's thick silver it does have some flexibility so a small, careful size adjustmant can be made.

It is 3/4" wide, is stamped sterling and has Riley's hallmark.

This wonderful example of genuine, handmade, Native American Indian art will certainly make a terrific addition to your jewelry collection.
