Large Snuff Box (or perhaps a Card Case)

 About 8.5 x 5.5 x 2 cms

Fashioned as a small volume.

Scrolled acanthus leaf decoration in relief to the base and around the edge of the top and with reeded decoration around the 4 sides. Nicely cast thumb piece to the opening edge.

In excellent condition - hinge is in very good order and the gilding to the interior is unrubbed.

Engraved to the top "Presented to Mr. James Paterson, by a Friend".

Hallmarked for Birmingham to the lid and to the base with the maker's mark "NM" and with date letter to the base for 1845.

Weight is 120.5 grams.

 A protective starting price but there is no reserve.
