NAMED HYBRID SEMPERVIVUMS Sempervivum (=to live forever) Crassulaceae House leek These wonderful plants are easy to grow in any well-drained soil. They must have good drainage, as they don’t like to sit in wet soil as this causes them to rot. The best way to ensure good growth is to plant in a mix of 50/50 good compost and horticultural grit. It is a good idea to top dress with grit as it looks good and also stops the leaves touching wet soil. Sempervivum are good for containers, tubs, troughs, rock gardens etc. There are only a few true species but they cross freely and there are now well over 2500 varieties to collect. The plants produce offshoots on a regular basis, which become mature plants over time. After a couple of years the plant will produce a flower. The flowers are more weird than attractive but once the plant has flowered it will die. We only supply small rosettes as in this way they have a better chance of producing offshoots that more mature ones. The plant supplied is a rooted offshoot of the named cultivars. This is the only way to propagate the plants to keep the cultivars status. I have a few varieties listed but if you know a named variety you would like please ask me as I have a good collection but some are in very short supply and not worth the cost of listing in my shop. One plant will be sent bare root ready for potting. Their colours tend to vary depending on the time of year. The photo of the plant was taken in summer. POSTAGE AND PACKING: Please remember that postage and packing does mean postage and packing and not just the cost of the stamp. Most of the items need special, careful packing that I pride myself on. Wherever possible recycled packaging is used. This also takes time to collect from various sources. I try to keep packing costs as low as possible but if you do not agree that the cost covers postage, packing etc, please do not bid. If payment is through pay pal we can only ship to confirmed addresses. If you have an unconfirmed address the items will be put on back order until you inform pay pal and confirm your postal address. (This is to avoid the use of stolen credit cards and also to protect the buyer.)
PAYMENT: Payment must be received within 7 days of the auction ending. Payments must be in GBP or pound sterling. Any other currency will not be accepted. Postal orders for UK only. Overseas customers must pay by Pay Pal. If there are any problems please inform me ASAP after the end of auction. Payments not received within 7 days will be reported and receive a non payment strike from Ebay. COMBINING ITEMS: Items can be combined up to 7 days after the first sale. This is to reduce the P+P costs. The orders will be combined automatically within 7 days. If you want to combine the items before 7 days please ask for the items to be combined. IMPORTANT: All items MUST be paid for at the same time and sent to the same address to qualify for the P+P discount. DELIVERY: Items are only dispatched Monday through Wednesday on clearance of payment. I process all orders quickly but please note that I print the invoices the day before shipment. With my nursery being 6 miles away from home and that all plants are hard grown and prepared for postage the day of posting. This is to keep the plants as fresh as possible. Unfortunately I can't process orders when at the nursery so any buy it now items are dispatched the next postage day. The standard delivery time is 1-3 days for the UK and 3-5 days overseas.
