By Malcolm Haslam Published by Lutterworth Press, Guildford, England, 1995 First Edition (NB this is a revised and much expanded version of Haslam's earlier title Marks and Monograms of the Modern Movement, which covered up to 1930). Hardcover in black publishers' cloth, with pictorial dustjacket Size: approx 16 cm x 24 cm
A literally unique and absolutely invaluable reference for collectors, dealers and enthusiasts. This incredibly comprehensive volume encompasses the Arts and Crafts period, Art Nouveau and Jugendstil, the Vienna Secession, the Wiener Werkstatte, the Bauhaus, De Stijl and the early Modern Movement, European and North American Art Deco and American and Scandinavian mid-Century modernism. The volume covers everything from Augustus Pugin, Thomas Seddon, and Christopher Dresser to Liberty & Co, WMF, Eric Ravillious, Josef Hoffmann and Jean Puiforcat to St Ives Pottery, Charles Eames, Gio Ponti, Old Hall and Tapio Wirkkala! Among the famous names are innumerable lesser-known ones, making this a truly unsurpassed tool for researching the identity of an unknown maker's signature, monogram or mark. The book's 448 pages illustrate over 2000 marks and monograms, arranged by type and country. There are separate chapters on ceramics, glass, metalwork and jewellery, graphics, furniture and textiles. The information is then ordered by country in each category. The countries covered are Britain, USA, France, Belgium, the Netherlands, Germany, Austria, Italy, Scandinavia, Russia (the former Soviet Union), Switzerland and Spain. With full cross-referenced index of all artists, designers and manufacturers featured. Condition: Excellent. A fabulous used copy with minimal signs of age and use. The are no previous owner inscriptions and the jacket is not priceclipped. This is a rare, long out-of-print and much sought-after publication in wonderful condition. Don't miss this opportunity. © Text and photographs are the copyright of room_606. Please do not copy either in full or in part.
Payment methods and Postage Non-UK: Paypal only UK: Paypal and GBP£ cheques (please ask for a conversion into GB£ sterling). All buyers please make contact within 3 days of auction. Payment is required within 7 days. All items are shipped using a tracked means of postage to comply with eBay/Paypal's Buyer Protection Program. All prices are calculated at cost using the Royal Mail's online price calculator. All items are packed to a professional standard - please see my feedback page for previous customer testimonies.
Non-payment All non-paying bidders are, without exception, reported to eBay. This is not for the sake of being vindictive, but because eBay charges retrospective fees calculated on the actual sale price of items and this money needs to be retrieved. Believe me it is hard enough to make ends meet on here as it is! Thank you for your understanding. Please refer to eBay's policy on non-payment for more information, including its ramifications for the bidder. If you have any doubts, please do ask before bidding.
Condition of items Please note that, unless clearly stated otherwise, my listings are for vintage/antique objects and therefore, by definition, are not going to be in the same condition you would expect from a brand new item. Please be assured that I always endeavour to offer the most accurate description possible of the item's condition and take multiple illustrative photographs.
Vintage electrical items Unless clearly stated otherwise in the description, vintage electrical items are sold in their original condition so should always be safety checked by a qualified electrician before use.
Returns Returns are possible, if reported within 7 days and by prior arrangement, if a mistake has been made in the listing and the item is not as described, but for no other reason. I'm afraid that straightforward buyer's remorse does not qualify and the cost of return postage is not included in any refund. Please see the policies page in my shop for more information. Don't hesitate to e-mail me to ask any questions not covered there or above; I always endeavour to answer as promptly as possible. Thanks very much for taking the time to read this and best of luck with your bidding! |
