The set dates from c1930's-1950's and the porcelain is so fine, it is almost translucent. This hand painted, vintage miniature tea set is backstamped "CODEG Foreign" (on the plates only) is great condition and includes the following: 5 cups, 5 saucers and 5 plates. The measurements of the pieces are as follows: Plate - 3.7/8 inches in diameter and 0.9/16" (1.4) cm high Saucer - 3.3/8 inches (8.3 cm) wide and 0.4" (1.2cm high Cup - 2.5/8"(6.6cm) at it's widest (from edge of handle to the opposite rim of the cup) and 1.1/8" (2.7 cm) high. As it is a handpainted set, each piece within it is unique and there is some inconsistency in colour because of this. One of the plates has a small chip with is visible in the photo provided. Also visible in this photo is the small brown mark on one of the saucers. The cup shown indicates the difference in colours, especially the blues, that come from hand painting, as well as the minor differences in the execution of the design. As well as minor inconsistencies in the pattern, there are also some places where the paint has run, added by accident or slightly smudged. All these show the individuality of the pieces, which, as you will be able to see from the photos, come together in a synchronous whole. The set is a tangible example of handpainted artistry and a welcome addition to any collection of kitchenalia or for a little one's tea parties! Happy bidding :) |
