Totally Original Midland Railway Clock
A Midland Railway 10 inch dial fusee clock, supplied by Mann of Gloucester circa 1870.
The movement has been professionally cleaned and a new fusee line fitted, the original dial has been repainted circa 1950's when the Western Region took over all the Midland lines From Worcester, however it has retained its LMS number on the dial.
These clocks never had a wooden case and were mounted on the wall of signal boxes, the long pendulum enabling them to keep better time.
This type of clock was used in the signal boxes of all the Midland Rly lines south of Worcester to Bristol including the Forest of Dean, this particular one has the name Dunhampstead scratched in old writing on the pendulum twice so no doubt this was its location.
