Model Summary This is a Messerschmitt Bf109 K-4 (Kurfürst Series) pre-painted in a sophisticated European Theatre Camouflage paint scheme. This particular Bf109 has full and accurate markings for the JG52 fighter squadron (Jagdgeschwader 52), circa. 1945, piloted by Hermann Graf).
Model Kit Details and Options These particular 1:144 scale models are very accurately moulded and detailed in dense plastic resin and painted with a very high level of fine detail (including weathering and accurate markings) - no transfers are required.
There are 13 different German aircraft from World War Two in this series (Series 3), including a motorised propeller Japanese Bf109 and a piloted V2 Rocket with LED jet exhaust. There are seven different Bf109 models in this series. This model was made by Hasegawa and marketed by Takara (of Japan), it is beautifully pre-painted and a very highly detailed model.
Although the model kit is fully pre-painted, including all insignia (no transfers required), the model parts are still on the sprue, requiring minor modelling skills for assembly (e.g. cutting). The parts do fit together easily, and have an excellent fit all round. All the parts are clip-together (e.g. push to fit). If the models are to be used for wargaming, it may be advisable to use liquid adhesive on some of the more fragile parts.
The model is supplied with no undercarriage attached; you have the option of displaying with the undercarriage raised (wheels covers) or lowered (wheels down). There is a sturdy black plastic "in-flight" display stand supplied. Some minor modelling skills are required (no painting, just cutting, filing and a little glue) in order to install undercarriage, aerial etc. These optional parts come on a separate sprue (all pre-painted) and correctly moulded to fit perfectly.
Model Manufacturer Details This is one model from a collection of 13 (including two secret models) available from the Takara Famous Airplanes of the World - Series 3, Wings of the Luftwaffe (released in 2006). As is usual, this volume of models had a limited production run.
The model kit is brand new and individually sealed in an air-tight plastic bag and boxed. The box has been opened (from the bottom) in order to identify which model it is, but otherwise the box is in new condition. Please Note - The models are sold randomly packed in Japan, therefore the box must be opened to discover which model is inside.
These models in this scale are becoming very popular and will certainly appeal to Wargamers and collectors of World War Two Aviation models. They are the same scale as the Takara World Tank Museum models and look stunning in 12mm figure dioramas.
