This absolulely Classic Great Coat with a taste of the 17th and 18th Century is just perfect for the Classic Well Dressed Gentleman!

Perfect for the Gentleman who needs to arrive at a special function in style with envious looks from other Gents and admiring glances from the Ladies. And perfect for the Dashing Horseman, this riding coat is made perfectly to sit with full style!

Jacket is made from a gorgeous Moss Green wool blend material. This material is medium weight, so is warm without being or looking heavy - Perfect for this style. Coat has Dashing stand-up 4 1/2" black faux Fur Collar with a very elegant Persian-Wool designing. This collar can be worn standing up or down. This fabulous fur covers the collar, lapels and runs down the inner front of the Great Coat for a stylish detail. Redingote has detachable Cape. This Cape is cut on Bias, which enables it to sit fully and stylishly around the shoulders without looking bulky, and to hang nicely and is a full and fabulous 92" around the hem. Coat has deep pockets in side front seams. Sleeves are finished off with 4 1/2" strip of the Black Persian Fur. Jacket is finished off with black satin lining and has large 1" black faceted Buttons in front to complete the look. Coat has extra long slit in back - this period detail is for comfort and style when riding and adds a nice swing and sway to the hem of this Great Coat.

The sharp tailoring and design - as well as the top quality materials make this a jacket to stand out in a crowd!

Well made - this coat will last for many years. This is certainly one of my favorite patterns to sew from. Jacket is to sit nicely - not too snugly across shoulders and back, and taper gently down past the waist and flare out just gently around hips to the hem.

It is strongly recommended that you carefully check your measurements BEFORE purchase. Especially around the chest and shoulder areas as with the lovely cut of the coat it should fall well from there. The sleeves should also be just an inch or two longer than required so that when you bend your arm the cuff does not ride too much up your forearm.

I also recommend that you purchase a coat an inch or two larger than your regular shirt/jacket size. For example if you wear a 42" shirt/jacket - I would suggest a 44" coat, this insures good movement at the chest for swordfights and movement and also does not fit too snugly while sitting nicely. As this is a full overcoat I would suggest even an inch or two more, to leve good room for your coats, vests etc underneath. Also, this fabulous Coat can also be shortened for a personal fit, but is carefully hand sewn to the maximum length, so will go no longer.
