Zhi Bai Di Huang Wan is a Chinese Medicinal Formula that is utilized when a patient has been diagnosed as having insufficient liver and kidney yin plus heat signs. It has been considered especially helpful and is commonly prescribed in China for menopausal women or men experiencing hot flashes. Symptoms that can be associated with insufficient liver and kidney yin are night sweats, hot flashes, flushed face, red cheeks, nocturnal emissions, premature ejaculation, chronic sore throat, frequent urination of dark, small amounts of urine, lower back pain, low grade fever in the afternoons, and uneasiness.

It has been suggested for patients who have been undergoing long term use of steroids or thyroid hormone replacement therapy as these people sometimes develop deficient Yin of the Kidney and Liver.
