eclectic / prize 2 / A Mekranoti war club - and a DVD of the ground-breaking film behind it 

                                                 This really is the present for someone who has everything.

                                                In 1969, award-winning filmmaker and tve trustee Adrian

                                               Cowell travelled to the Amazon to film the Kreen Akore tribe.

                                               The result was the extraordinary ‘Tribe that Hides from Man’,

                                               shot by distinguished cameramen including Chris Menges

                                               and Charles Stewart. This war club was used by the Mekranoti,

                                               a sub-tribe of the Kayapo to hunt tapirs and pigs, but also in their

                                               battles with rubber tappers. Adrian brought it back from the Upper

                                               Xingu River in 1969.

                                               ‘The Tribe that Hides from Man’, broadcast on ITV in 1970, won

                                                a BAFTA for best documentary, the Prix Italia for Best Documentary

                                                and the Silver Medal at the Venice Film Festival.

                                               The successful bidder wins both the war club and the DVD of the film.
