Meade Series 4000 Super Wide Angle 24.5mm Eyepiece

This is an original 24.5mm Meade Series 4000 Super Wide Angle eyepiece with a 67° apparent field, made in Japan. It is 6-element, multi-coated with a 1.25” barrel and is in excellent condition with just slight external wear on the barrel from normal use.

This eyepiece is one of Meade’s original premium range from the late 1980s; the quality is excellent and will help get the best from your telescope’s optics. It is compact for an eyepiece of this field width and will suit even the smallest telescope.

I’ve owned this eyepiece from new and enjoyed many beautiful views at a low to medium magnification with wide fields, perfect for observing deepsky objects and the Moon. Exact magnification depends on your telescope; divide its focal length by that of the eyepiece to work this out. Divide the apparent field width (67°) by the magnification to find the approximate true field with your telescope.

Please note; this is a genuine original Meade Series 4000 Super Wide Angle, not one of the cheap ‘Wide Angles’ that are sometimes offered for sale. It is far superior to any such eyepiece or any Plossl eyepiece and compares very favourably with similar modern premium eyepieces. The original version offered here did not have the rubber eyecup or rubber grip styling of the later (1992) variant.
