Description:
This is a brand new replacement black vinyl hood with a zip-out Vybak rear window for a Mazda MX5 (close to identical to the original MX5 hood). It also features the 'rain rail' above the window to stop those untimely drenchings, as per the latest design of mk3 hood. For other colours and hoods with glass windows please see contact us.

Fitment:
We now work closely with the manufacturer of this hood and they are designing them to our specifications. This hood will fit the Mazda MX5 or Japanese imported equivalent model the 'Eunos Roadster' all models from 1989-2005. This black vinyl hood with zip-out plastic rear screen was the standard factory fitted item on cars 1989-1997. 1998-2005 cars had glass heated rear windows fitted as factory standard so this product will effectively be a downgrade to the original on that model of car.

Warranty
This hood comes with 1 years manufacturers' warranty from the time of purchase. This covers the hood for any defects in workmanship or parts. It does NOT cover incorrect fitting.

Materials:
These hoods are manufactured in the UK and have been fitted on thousands of MX5s. They are a tried and tested design using tried and tested materials and we work closely with the manufacturer to provide the best fit. The vinyl used EXCEEDS the original manufacturer standard and is EXACTLY the same grade and grain of vinyl originally used by Mazda. The life expectancy of the hood is around 7 years providing the appropriate care is taken to maintain the hood. The rear window is also made from Flexglas and has the wider welds that all the other sellers seem to go on about.

Care and Maintenance:
After fitting the hood should be left up to stretch evenly on the car for at least a week to ensure a proper fit and to ensure that it is easy to fold up/fold down. Whenever the hood is folded down the rear window should be unzipped (as per the instructions for the original OE Mazda hood). The hood can be folded down with the rear window but in cold weather this can cause the rear window to crack (this applies to ALL plastic rear windows for ALL manufacturers - the zip is there for a reason and it is even mentioned in the original MX5 owner's handbook). Unzipping the rear window takes no longer than 5 seconds and can be done without moving from the drivers' seat. We recommend using soapy water to wash the hood down but only using a soft damp cloth to clean the window. Abrasive materials or polishes should NOT be used on the rear window.

The included DVD with this hood is 54 minutes long and has been produced in-house by us here at Dandycars.

If you are a fairly mechanic (or quite 'handy') then you should be able to fit this hood in half a day (with some swearing involved). Ignore other seller's claims that they can be fitted in 2 hours, for a first-time fit it would probably take 3.5 hours at the very quickest (including cups of tea!). No tools are supplied with this hood. Basic tools are required: Phillips screwdriver, 10mm and 12mm socket, a drill is useful and a smattering of common sense (if we could sell common sense on eBay we'd make a mint!). Rivets are supplied and should be used for installation (they are not absolutely essential but we strongly recommend using them). No rivet gun is supplied but any DIY place or tool store should stock them. Any and all MX5 hoods require rivets to be installed absolutely correctly so please don't be fooled by sellers who claim theirs does not require rivets - IT SHOULD DO!!!

'It isn't the same cut as the original hood' - quite right. But neither is theirs - if you want an original Mazda hood, you will have to go to Mazda and pay them £604. Nearly 4 times as much. And you won't get a free DVD or warranty.
'It isn't the same material as the original hood whereas ours is ' - right again. But would you want your new hood made out of material originally sourced in the mid-80s or the from the very latest vinyl technology? In any case, the material we use exceeds the original Mazda spec and is also exactly the same vinyl grain as the original..
'Those hoods are cheap replicas made in China' - This is incorrect. Our hoods are designed and manufactured in the UK using UK sourced materials.
'Those hoods don't come with the 'rain rail' above the window' - Oh yes they do.
'Those hoods leak around the rear windows and seams' - This is incorrect. All seams and seals on this hood are absolutely watertight. They do not leak. Ever. Further to this the window design means it is deeper near the bottom and actually allows better visibility, especially when parking.

The other manufacturers will also go on about their hood like it's the best thing since sliced bread, emphasising features that at the end of the day will not make a blind bit of difference to the fit or longevity of the hood. We specialise is MX5s and MX5s ONLY (we have sold over 900 since we started in 1998) and change around 3 hoods per day. We have seen it all and we have tried them all, from dirt cheap China hoods to OEM Mazda. Nothing matches this hood for price or quality.

Postage and Packing:
The product will normally be shipped via courier the same working day if ordered before noon for next working day delivery. For example if you order on Wednesday at 10am delivery will be on Thursday 9-5pm. If you order on Friday at 3pm the product will be shipped on the following Monday for Tuesday delivery.
