Dublin-based American singer/actress Maria Tecce's first album.
Originally from Boston, the Italian-Polish American Maria has garnered acclaim as one of Ireland’s foremost and dynamic vocalists and critics have raved about her live performances, interpretation of material, and original work. Both her one-woman jazz/cabaret shows and gigs have played to packed houses all over Ireland, Europe, U.K., and the USA, highlighting the most entrancing qualities of Maria’s music - her wide audience appeal and powerful live performances.
After the 2003 release of her debut album All About Love and a sold-out run of her previous show of the same name in venues around Ireland, Maria quickly became a bright and fiery star on the music & acting scenes in Ireland. She has gone from strength to strength and her cabaret and straight jazz shows continue to highlight not only this jazz chanteuse’s acclaimed vocal talents but also the demonstrative and effortless acting skills of a seasoned actor and performer.
Guest appearances this past year saw Maria supporting Dionne Warwick for a second time at her sold-out gig in Vicar St. in March, and sharing the stage with Irish Legend Ronnie Drew of ‘The Dubliners’, which lead to regular requests to guest on radio and television programs in Ireland.
Maria first arrived in Ireland 8 years ago and has garnered among her musicians members of bands from Van Morrison, Norma Winstone, Sister Sledge, Jools Holland, Lisa Stansfield, The Waterboys, and Paul Brady. Gigs at top live venues in Ireland quickly followed and Maria has been invited back four years running to the renowned Guinness International Jazz Festival in Cork which attracts the cream of music artists from all over the world. This multi-talented diva’s original songs have also gained notoriety and are included on two separate CD compilations featuring the likes of Grammy Award Winners John Prine, Bruce Mathiske, Ron Sexsmith, and Bella Fleck as well as Irish artists Jack L, Juliet Turner, Damien Rice, David Kitt, Paddy Casey, Hazel O’Connor, and Luka Bloom.
“…If cabaret legend Marlene Dietrich was the Queen of the 'Spiegeltent' venue when it toured back in the 1930s, then Maria Tecce is unquestionably its new crowning glory... “
