Moorfields of Wigan

BBCS Cat No.218 - issued prob early 60s

This old mat from a long gone brewery is printed on just the one side.

It is in absolutely mint condition.

This is one of about 250 different Moorfields mats that have the same dasic design of a star in the top left, Wigan Moorfield's Ales, with Wigan and Ales above and below a central coloured band with Moorfield's on it.

The mats come in a whole range of different colours.

For the real purists, there are 2 different sizes of star and two different styles of apostrophe - making 4 variations for each of the 250 odd mats. This one has the smaller star, and the smaller apostrophe - type d.

With so many different possible mats, it is not surprising that none of them is common!

The mat is square, and measures 9.5cm from side to opposite side.

Moorfields Brewery stopped brewing in 1970.
