MINOLTA VECTIS UC APS COMPACT CAMERA, BOXED with CASE

The Minolta Vectis UC is a great little APS compact camera. APS film is still available, and offers many advantages over 35mm including multiple picture formats and information exchange (see below), plus much easier loading. Please note that APS cameras do not accept 35mm film. A free film is included for you to try the camera out for yourself (see below). The camera is in great condition, and comes boxed with case and instructions.

The lens is a 25mm f/4 (equivalent to around 31mm on a 35mm camera) - a useful focal length for general photography. Focusing is automatic from 0.4m (1.3 feet) to infinity. The camera sets the distance for you when you press the shutter release slightly, and a focus lock is provided for off-centre subjects.

Fully automatic (program) exposure, where the camera selects the shutter speed and aperture required. This means that the camera can be used under a wide range of conditions, with no extra manual settings required. Film speeds are set automatically.

An electronic flash is built in, and enables you to take pictures in low light conditions without worrying about camera shake. The flash switches on automatically when it's needed. Extra flash features include redeye reduction, fill in flash for reducing shadows in daylight, and flash off mode for occasions where it's not appropriate or permitted.

The optical viewfinder provides a bright and clear image of the subject for simple and accurate framing. A central circle shows the area covered by the auto focus system, and the shape of the image changes automatically for each of the three APS picture formats (see below).

Film advance is motorised, and the camera will load the film automatically, wind on after each shot and then rewind at the end of the film. Extra features include a lens cover and shutter lock, mid roll rewind button, self timer and tripod socket. An LCD panel on the top displays frame number, battery, flash and other information. Power saving feature turns off camera when not being used. Power is supplied by 1x CR2 lithium battery (included).

APS features include multiple picture formats so you can choose the shape of each picture, with C (Classic) giving 6x4-inch prints, H (HDTV/Widescreen) giving 7x4-inch, and P (Panoramic) giant 10x4-inch ones. Most processors provide an index print with APS orders. IX Information Exchange can print information on your prints, including date, time and other details. APS film loading is very simple with no film threading required - just drop the cartridge in and close the door. This can't then be opened accidentally until the film has been rewound at the end.

The camera is very compact and lightweight at only around 104x58.5x30.5mm (4.1x2.3x1.2 inches) and 140g (4.9oz) without batteries, making it ideal to carry around at all times.

All features work properly, and the controls work smoothly and positively. Cosmetically, the camera's very good, with minimal signs of use including tiny scratches here and there, but no dents, dings or deep scratches. The inside of the box lid has some remnants of foam, but the accessories are in good condition.
