Hello, and Welcome to Valley of Gabors Signed By The Author Books & Collectibles - I have been a collector of signed books & pictures, memorabilia and other artifacts of pop culture for well over 25 years and decided to apply my passion and knowledge of collectibles along with retail experience to sell what I love.I hope to bring you many books of interest that are not normally found on Ebay.If you have any requests for anything rare or hard to find, please let me know.

I do not issue individual certificates of authenticity, but do unconditionally guarantee that all signed books have been hand  signed by the stated Author of the book and is the original signature of that author,  not a copy or forgery.

Most of the signed books featured have been purchased at bookstore signings or shortly after. ( author's will sign a few extra to be sold after the signing) .Others have been obtained at estate sales, auctions, reputable dealers and some have been donated by family and friends. The signatures are displayed at the time of auction in order for you to compare them with other known signatures because I want my buyers to bid with confidence. All signed books are placed up for auction with no reserve and with low opening bids to encourage bidding. Please feel free to look around and if you have any questions then please let me know and I will do my very best to help you.

Feedback - Will be left after buyer has left feedback for the item. This way I know that the item has arrived and that the buyer is truly satisfied thus making the sale complete.

A few notes about shipping - Shipping is usually 3.99 for books via media mail which can take 7 -14 days or longer to deliver depending on where you live and mail flow. Each individual auction will display the shipping price for the item.If you bid, you are agreeing to said postage.I do not combine shipping but do offer a shipping discount that will be applied to multiple winners of auctions ending the same week and purchased at the same time .- First item at regular shipping price and .50 off each additional item.

Packing & shipping supplies are more costly to buy in San Francisco ( the most costly place to live in the U.S.!) so I make no profit from the shipping charge .The charge covers the shipping and packaging cost only ( I use plenty of bubblewrap and a thick padded envelope to insure protection- cost of padded envelope usually averages to 1.79). Anything else, such as address confirmation, insurance, tracking, etc are not included .Please inquire about the cost of these extra features before the auction ends so I can include the appropriate fees in the invoice.I usually ship within 72 hours of payment on the next business day.( business days are defined as Monday thru Friday. Weekends and holidays are excluded).

I ship worldwide. For international buyers- (paypal only accepted) - please contact for shipping rates..If you have any questions regarding shipping, or any requests, please kindly ask before the auction ends. This way there are no surprises for either one of us and it is so much easier for both parties concerned.

Just a few more little things to read - Refunds will be given as money back upon safe return of item. If you have encountered a problem, please contact me asap. Not responsible for items lost in mail, or for the time it takes U.S.P.S. to deliver. Please inquire about insurance if this is a concern. California residents will be charged 8.5% sales tax  - To my San Francisco buyers - it is not possible for me to hand deliver purchases to you .Delivery by mail only.

Please look this over carefully before bidding and if you do not agree with anything that you have read, ( shipping price, shipping time , etc) Then please don't bid. Life is too short. I hope this answers any questions you might have and thanks for reading.

Thanks for your time and interest!!!

 Niven Busch
(1903 - 1991)
Biography from Katz's Film Encyclopedia

Born in New York City. An associate editor of Time magazine and a regular contributor to The New Yorker, he went to Hollywood in the early 30s and became a screenwriter for various studios. Although he wrote original stories and screenplays for films of varied genres, he gained a reputation mostly for his Westerns, into which he often introduced psychoneurotic elements. His novel Duel in the Sun (1944) provided the story basis for the large-scale Selznick-Vidor film of that name (1947).

Notable screen writing credits (alone or in collaboration) include BABBITT (1934), IN OLD CHICAGO (1937), THE ANGELS WASH THEIR FACES (1939), THE WESTERNER (1940), BELLE STARR (1941), THE POSTMAN ALWAYS RINGS TWICE (1946), PURSUED (1947), THE CAPTURE and THE FURIES (both 1950, both novels), DISTANT DRUMS (1951), THE MAN FROM THE ALAMO and THE MOONLIGHTER (both 1953) and THE TREASURE OF PANCHO VILLA (1955).

In the 70s, he was teaching and lecturing on film at various California universities and in the mid-80s became a teaching fellow at Princeton. He played a bit part in the film THE UNBEARABLE LIGHTNESS OF BEING (1988).

Formerly (1942-52) married to actress Teresa Wright.
