Postage for UK Buyers
To keep postage costs to a minimum books are usually sent via the cheapest method available (2nd class within the UK)- if you prefer an alternative method of delivery (such as recorded delivery) please enquire for a revised quote
Postage for non UK buyers - IMPORTANT
Having sold books worldwide for the past year I have now taken the difficult decision to only routinely sell within Europe, using the AIRMAIL postage option. To be honest I'm sick of all the hassle I get from buyers who choose cheap surface Mail and complain when it takes 8 weeks to arrive (and there is no 'tracking'). However If you live outside Europe and fancy bidding on or buying a book please contact me directly for a postage quote and confirmation of expected delivery time.
I always obtain proof of postage for anything I send. If an item is lost in transit it really is not my fault! If I can, I will obtain a refund from the Royal Mail but the process can take up to 3 months. I can arrange for signed for delivery at an additional cost (about £4.50 extra) Buyers of valuable items should seriously consider this option
Sorry to be so heavy but the amount of grief I get when items dont turn up as quickly as people expect sometimes far outweighs the benefits I get from the sale - Life is too short!- This is an hobby and not a business
Also please note that E BAY is not my life - I have a full time job & family and can only usually get to the Post Office (or my storage unit) on a Thursday or a Saturday - however books are always posted within one week of my receiving payment. I also appreciate you all have busy lives to lead and will not normally send out late payment e-mails until 2 weeks after purchase date.
Condition of Books
Its in my interest to be as honest as possible about the condition of any book I sell - all significant defects will be described using standard book trade jargon. The level of detail I will go in to however will differ depending upon whether the item is collectible, valuable or is just a trade paperback to be read and enjoyed (I will not waste my time describing in fine detail a cheap mass produced paperback). If condition is critical to you please email me for more details (or even photographs)
As a general guide the following descriptions will be used
Mint - as new
Fine - almost as new, slight signs of use. A Fine Dustjacket has no tears and minimal signs of rubbing to edges
VG - Very Good condition - this is usually relative to its age and expected condition. Item will have no major defects (other than those described). May have a small annotation from previous owner. A VG Dustjacket may have rubbing to edges and some creasing.
Good - acceptible condition for its age - if its a paperback it will probarbly have creases to cover or spine. Book will be intact with tight spine but pages may be yellowed with age. A Good Dustjacket will be intact but will probably have tears and creases or be chipped - It may also be sun faded
Fair - intact but showing major signs of ageing or usage - however still useful as a reading or a reference copy - too good to throw away - will usually have a low starting price
In an attempt to de-clutter my life I will be listing many hundreds (maybe thousands) of my books on a wide range of subjects and interests over the coming months - please add me to your favourites to keep updated
