Palm trees and tall mountains are witnesses to a marine feast hosted by beautiful mermaids. A squid and an octopus dance amid turtles and fish, while dolphins jump for joy. A stingray cruises at the bottom of the sea through colorful corals and bright starfish. Maria Uyauri details this marine fantasy in lavish arpillería, Peru's legendary appliqué. She sews and embroiders each piece by hand, creating a three-dimensional composition filled with artistic naiveté. A display rod can slip through an opening on the wall hanging's upper back.
