The first ever DVD to feature one of the great Folk Rock bands of the last twenty years, The Men They Couldn’t Hang. The band formed in 1984 and were soon going down a storm on the Folk circuit, they were eventually signed to Demon Records by Elvis Costello, and released a cover of “Green Fields Of France” which became a big hit on the alternative chart. As each release heightened their profile, the band went on to records for several labels, including MCA and Silvertone, and became a major draw on the live circuit. However, they decided to call it a day in 1991, but not before playing an emotional final gig at London’s Town And Country club – it is that famous gig that is featured on “The Shooting” (CRDVD78). Many of the bands key songs are performed, including “The Green Fields Of France” and “Iron Masters”, which were both Independent Chart top ten hits. There are also eight tracks that have never been previously seen, and were not part of the original video release of the show. Grave Robbing In The Gig Harbour / Billy Morgan / The Ghosts Of Cable Street / You’re The One / Company Town / The Lion And The Unicorn / Homefires / Going Back To Coventry / Colours / Lobotomy Gets Em Home / Scarlet Ribbons / Shirt Of Blue / The Bounty Hunter / Industrial Town / The Man In The Corner Shop / Australia / Rosettes / A Night To Remember / The Green Fields Of France / Iron Masters |
