20 HORN INSERTS

These pre-cut horn inserts are used (as seen in the Arrows raised from the Mary Rose etc...) to re-inforce self cut nock ends on Medieval style Arrows. The picture shows 3 stages of inserting the horn, from cutting a slot, then the insert glued in place ready for trimming and then the final shaft with insert trimmed ready for the string groove to be cut, more information on how to achieve this can be seen in our book on Arrow making found in our ebay .

The inserts are individually cut so size varies marginally, the shaft shown in the picture with the insert glued in ready for trimming is a 3/8 shaft, approx sizes for the inserts are 1 1/2" long, 1/2" wide and just over 1/16" thick.
