Offered here is one of the finest vintage shakers you can own.  It was made by MEDCO using a heavy depression glass body with a beautifully detailed RED PLASTIC STRAINER TOP AND RECIPE CAP.  In case you are not familiar with the Medco recipe caps they are made in two parts where one part covers the eight drink recipes.  You turn the covering part to reveal the name of the drink in one slot and in the other slot appears the recipe for that drink.  (See the photo and see how to make a "Stinger").  Two of the greatest features of this shaker, in addition to the recipes, are the extraordinary height and the extraordinary condition of this shaker.  The shaker stands 12 1/4 inches tall and the condition is SUPERB.  There are no cracks, chips or scratches in either the glass body or on either the red strainer top or the recipe cap.  Also, unlike many of these 70 year old strainers, the lettering on the recipe cap is still bright and clear, NOT worn off like you usually find in vintage Medco Shakers.

I believe this model shaker was introduced in 1936 and probably was used throughout War War II.  The art deco styling of the strainer top and cap combined with the pressed glass, depression era pattern of the shaker body would seem to confirm that this shaker is a product of the mid to late 1930's.  They do not make them like this any more!!!

On the underside of the Recipe Cap is embossed "MEDCO N.Y.C. Pat.No. 2090998".  On the underside of the glass body is embossed "MEDCO - 550 N.Y.C."
