MAUCHLINE FERNWARE ANTIQUE FERN WARE LGE JEWELLERY BOX

Lovely Antique Victorian c1880 Mauchline Fern Ware Large Jewellery Box.

Nicely detailed fern pattern all around the box (front back and sides). Lid furthur Fernware decoration with a central panel that i am afraid was a lacquered picture but has pretty much worn away. The picture was of Ventnor on the Isle Of Wight. Fitted inside with original fabric with what looks like rope twist edging and button back to the inside of the lid. Has original Hinges and Lock though we dont have key and opens and closes fine.

 It is a good size and measures approx 10 1/4" by 9" and is 2 3/4" high.

Fernware is in good Condition with no breaks, splits or repairs, there are light surface scratches and scuffs just in the laquered finish that i am sure would look better for some polish or could be corrected professionally, the central picture on the lid is pretty much gone although parts are visible and if i was keeping the box i thought about having a different picture to replace it or a plaque or something of this sort. Sounds alot and is complete and just trying to be accurate and its a good old piece of fernware and a good size.
