Synopsis:
With THE MATRIX, the Wachowskis have established
themselves as innovative filmmakers who push the boundaries of
live-action films. Like the groundbreaking STAR WARS, THE MATRIX
(also the first film of a trilogy) showcases a unique visual
style, one the Wachowskis achieved through an array of techniques
and digital effects, some never before seen in mainstream
Hollywood films. Although computer morphing technology had been
used before in films such as THE ABYSS and TERMINATOR 2, the
Wachowskis were the first to use 'bullet time,' a time-bending
digital effect that utilises both computer-generated imagery and
still photography. The film itself is a complex story that aspires
to mythology, focusing on a computer hacker named Neo (Keanu
Reeves) who searches for the truth behind the mysterious force
known as the Matrix. He finds his answer with a group of strangers
led by the charismatic Morpheus (Laurence Fishburne). What they
encounter in confronting that truth makes for a lightning-paced,
eye-popping thrill ride of a movie. Packed with stunning fight
scenes (choreographed by accomplished Hong Kong director Yuen Wo-Ping),
astonishing visual effects, quotable lines, and a terrific
supporting cast (led by Carrie-Anne Moss, in her first major

The Matrix
(1999):
During
the year 1999, a man named Thomas Anderson lives an ordinary life. He makes a
living illegally mostly by computer hacking. Then one day he meets another man
by the man of Morpheus. After their friendship develops Morpheus shows him that
world Thomas is living is make-believe. At first Thomas does not believe him,
but then is shown evidence and also meets with a like-minded woman named
Trinity. He is slowly updated from the time the world was disintegrated and
wasted, devoid of all natural resources. Then in this wasteland, came
android-like humans, machine-made, who enslaved the remainder of the humans. In
order to create the perfect world, a fake world is created to fool the humans
into believing that everything is alright in their world. Now Thomas, Trinity,
and Morpheus must lead the humans to freedom, but will the android-like beings
let them? |
The
Matrix Reloaded (2003):
6 months after the
events depicted in The Matrix, Neo has proved to be a good omen for the
free humans, as more and more humans are being freed from the matrix and
brought to Zion, the one and only stronghold of the Resistance. Neo
himself has discovered his superpowers including super speed, ability to
see the codes of the things inside the matrix and a certain degree of
pre-cognition. But a nasty piece of news hits the human resistance:
250,000 machine sentinels are digging to Zion and would reach them in 72
hours. As Zion prepares for the ultimate war, Neo, Morpheus and Trinity
are advised by the Oracle to find the Keymaker who would help them reach
the Source. Meanwhile Neo's recurrent dreams depicting Trinity's death
have got him worried and as if it was not enough, Agent Smith has somehow
escaped deletion, has become more powerful than before and has fixed Neo
as his next target. |
The Matrix
Revolutions (2003):
Neo discovers that
somehow he is able to use his powers into the real world too and that his
mind can be freed from his body, as a result of which he finds himself
trapped on a train station between the Matrix and the Real World.
Meanwhile, Zion is preparing for the oncoming war with the machines with
very little chances of survival. Neo's associates set out to free him from
The Merovingian since it's believed that he is the One who will end the
war between humans and the machines. What they do not know is that there
is a threat from a third party, someone who has plans to destroy both the
worlds. |
