This external 500GB disk drive is based on the M9 drive enclosure, which incorporates an integrated port replicator. With its smooth curves and aesthetically pleasing design, it features a passive cooling system, making it one of the coolest disk enclosures around. In every sense of the word.

Although the style and dimensions are the same as a Mac Mini, this product works wonderfully with any PC or Mac.

The Seagate 7200.12 disk drive is the very latest model just released, which uses 500GB per platter technology (compared to 250GB and 166GB in previous technologies) enabling the disk to use less power and generate less noise and heat.

The firewire chipset used in this product is the Oxford 924DSA.  This is the updated version of the Oxford 911 chipset for SATA disk drives.  This is the highest quality firewire 400 chipset on the market, and commands a premium price over cheaper alternatives.  However, professional users (such as video and audio editors) in the Mac community all recommend that the premium is worth paying for the extra stability, performance and reliability that it provides
