Uses very latest Seagate Barracuda 7200.11 disk built on perpendicular recording technology to deliver new levels of hard drive data density, capacity and reliability.

The Seagate 7200.11 disk drive is the very latest model just released, with 32MB internal cache.  It uses 375GB per platter technology (compared to 250GB and 166GB in previous technologies) enabling the disk to use less power and generate less noise and heat.

The firewire chipset used in this product is the Oxford 924DSA.  This is the updated version of the Oxford 911 chipset for SATA disk drives.  This is the highest quality firewire 400 chipset on the market, and commands a premium price over cheaper alternatives.  However, professional users (such as video and audio editors) in the Mac community all recommend that the premium is worth paying for the extra stability, performance and reliability that it provides
