On D Day, Second Battalion Rangers (2/75) successfully carried out one of World War II's most vital and daring missions, the scaling of the 100-foot cliffs overlooking Omaha and Utah beaches. Tom Hanks portrayed a 2/75 officer in the movie Saving Private Ryan.

This would be the 2nd Rangers most famous and daring action. On June 6th 1944, D-Day, the 2nd Ranger Battalion made assault landings on Normandy in two separate elements. Three Companies were assigned to take the guns and landed below the cliffs. The remainder of the Battalion landed with the 5th Rangers near Pointe de la Percee a few miles to the east. While at this beach General Norman Cota of the 29th Division came up and said “ We’re counting on you Rangers to lead the way”. And they did. It was at this time that the motto “Rangers lead the way” was born.

Decal Information:

The decal is made from very high quality acrylic vinyl with tacky backing, which in laymans terms means its re-usable! It is being sold to do one helmet. However, I have been using one of these decals on over several helmets and it is still going strong, thats how durable it is! It can be used with either spray paint or hand painting to get the genuine hand painted effect! Be aware this is not a 'stick on' decal, it is a decal template for you to use to paint your decal. Stick on Ranger Decals were NEVER used during WW2! Finally - This decal is pretty hard to get hold off, due to the fact that helmet repainters like to keep them away from the general public!

The helmet in the picture is not for sale nor is the Officer ETO stripe, but shows the decal being used on an original helmet but prior to the decal paint being aged! Why try to make your own decal when this one will do several helmet decals, share it amongst your reenactment unit!
