The car was first registered in 1973 and has had one previous owner prior to myself. I have owned it since 1979 and it was my daily transport until 1982 when, due to lack of finance, I consigned it to the garage, where it has remained ever since except for the occasional wash. The car is complete and as standard and would make an excellent restoration project for a Lotus marque enthusiast. My aim was always to restore it myself but there has always been something more pressing to do. I had decided it would make a good retirement project, however, my circumstances have changed recently and I now need the garage space. The engine is the so called ‘Big Valve’ version of the Lotus Twin Cam which was reputed to deliver 126bhp and was standard in the ‘Special’ version of the Europa. The Gearbox fitted to this particular car is the Type 352 4 speed. I have not examined the chassis in detail but would anticipate the new owner would need to fit a new one. The engine would also require a rebuild including the fitment of hardened valve seats to enable it to run on lead free fuel. It has not been run for at least 10 years. The GRP body has some stress cracks in the gel coat as would be expected in a car of this age. These can be seen in the photographs. The offside front wing has also suffered some light damage in the past. This can also be seen in the photographs. The alloy wheels have been reconditioned whilst the car has been in storage and the tyres were also replaced. These are Pirelli P6’s and not Dunlop SP Sport’s which were the standard tyre but not available at the time. The spare is original and has never been removed from the car. The interior of the car is very tidy except for a small tear in the driver’s seat. The wooden dash board is virtually unmarked. No Battery is fitted to the car and some of the fuel line disintegrated some time ago. I will reiterate this car is a non runner and in need of some restoration. The buyer will need to collect from my home in Northamptonshire with a suitable trailer. I’m sorry but I am unable to deliver. The buyer will need to collect within 14 days following the end of the auction. The winning bidder will need to pay 10% deposit via Paypal within 3 days of the end of the auction and the remainder of the balance in cash on collection of the vehicle.
