This advert is for a Longcase Clock Movement and dial by W. BARNARD of NEWARK.

It is an 11" square brass dial 30 hour longcase clock.  It has a brass chapter ring with brass spandrels listed as type 21 of C and W reference book.

The "cartwheel" dial centre is matted and has an inserted plate engraved "W. Barnard Newark 619".

The single steel hand is probably original and has been repaired.  The plated movement is in original condition with a 3 wheel going train and a large calendar wheel.

The strike train has an external count wheel.

The unit is in working order.

The wooden weight pully is original and the clock is fitted with rope sprokets.  Unusually, the dial feet and the 2 bottom plate pillars are made from square section iron bar.  Unsurprisingly, for a clock of this age, the plates have been fairly intensively bushed, and in some cases the pivot holes have been punched up.  In some places there are some cracks in the brass, but not enough to affect the working of the clock.

W. Barnard is a well known and respected maker and is listed in Britten as working between 1760 and 1780.

The seatboard is not original and looks quite new.
