Artists Statement

This painting was designed to make a pair for I’m Watching You, Too. Although I originally intended this lion to be dominant over the lioness in I’m Watching You, Too, I feel he has a softer quality. He looks younger than the lioness, and I think there is an element of this young lion looking to the lioness for guidance. His mane is not fully developed here, and this gives him a rough, unrefined look compared to the lionesses clean cut outline.
