"By the time you read this Pressure will have released the latest in their line of kick-ass DVD’s. Capturing all the thrills and spills from the last few years of the NPPL Super 7 World Series, the title Angels & Demons gives a good insight into what the DVD is all about. The Angels on show constitute the staple diet of any ‘baller – guns and women – while the Demons represent all the terribly unsporting behaviour and awfully rude language that the Pressure boys have captured. Hang your heads in shame.
Watching this DVD it’s clear that Pressure have raised the bar when it comes to slick and professional standards of Paintball DVD production. The beginning of the DVD sets the tone, with the intro screen incorporating scantily clad beauties gyrating to some Monkey Tribe moosic… always a good start we think. The twist on the typically boring piracy warning is also a nice touch, which includes the line; “pretty little girls and boys like you are very popular in jail!”
There’s some interesting additions to the traditional Paintball DVD format, with Pressure incorporating some short black and white public information films in the style of Duck and Cover as well as a cartoon and a snippet of a Miss Universe contest! Bizarre? Yes. Unnecessary? Maybe. Original and innovative? Definitely. The slow motion and reverse-forward effect is also used well to highlight the very best face-hits, full-length snake dives, kamikaze run-throughs, breakouts, hopper spillages and comedy falls.
The demonic behaviour on show at the Super 7 World Series is thoroughly entertaining and Pressure have managed to capture most of the best stuff. This includes the infamous match-up between XSV and Infamous, which sees Chris LaSoya wiping paint from his shirt while picking up the flag, and some subsequent heated exchanges between Rich Telford, Travis Lemanski and the match refs.
Also caught on camera for our amusement is the swamp action that takes place between the TonTons and the Naughty Dogs, which ends up looking more like a mud-wrestling contest than a Paintball game. Mucky fun and fisticuffs galore. And towards the end of the DVD we’re treated to an example of Rage living up to their name as Chino goes crazy at head ref Phil Dominguez over some disputed kills during a match-up with Dynasty. “Look at my face, we will never play this event again!” Ah Chino, you crack us up…
Away from the on-field action, a lot of camera time is devoted to the women of paintball. Not so much the players, more the dancing, prancing, cheerleading element. But that’s good. The only criticism is bourne out of the fact that some of the action is quite old and so many players have since swapped teams. At only 45 minutes running time, the DVD is also fairly short. However, with great action, top players, heated rows, loads of controversy and some bitchin’ music from the likes of Radiodazed, Unvertow, Plutonik and Monkey Tribe thrown in, Pressure’s depiction of the NPPL Super 7 World Series represents the very best elements of Paintball and the reasons we all love it."
