Leica 90mm F2.8 M Elmarit in Excellent Condition. Popular and enduring, the Leica 90mm Elmarit has always been a favourite amongst user. Light and compact, it's weight does not upset the balance of the Leica M cameras unlike the faster Summilux lenses. It's also small and portable. The perfect travel companion with the 50mm and 28mm lenses. Quite how Leica managed to make a lens that's looks almost identical to the 90mm F4.0 M Elmarit yet is a F2.8 is anybody's guess. Yet it is very slim and smaller than the newer 90mm Elmarit with it's built in lenshood and chunkier styling. Quality is right up the with some of the best of Leica lenses. It's breathtakingly sharp with superb resolution and detail.

The lens is in excellent condition and has small areas where the surface finish has been exposed. Little more than pinpoints of wear, nontheless they are visible. Overall it's been well looked after and handled by a careful owner. Optically the glass is clean with small amounts of dust visible, only to be expected for the age of the lens. However potential bidders are advised that there is a small hairline scratch on the front element coating. It is very fine and not that obvious and IT IS on the coating, NOT the glass. IT HAS NOT CUT THROUGH. It's so fine, that it's only visible if held in a certain light, two members of staff were not even convinced it was there! However it has been described for accuracy and honesty.

Otherwise the focus is accurate, smooth and precise. The aperture stopdown is also consistent.

This is a lovely lens that is complete with it's original Leica Lenshood, Leica push-on Lenscap, Leica UV Filter and Leica retaining ring.
